Chinon Awning - Our Thoughts!
On arrival, having never received a brand new awning before, I gulped by the
size of the box and wondered how I was going to transport it. But upon opening
the box I realised that in fact the awning was packed away very compactly and
was not going to be a problem transporting it.
The instructions made the putting up of the awning easy going detailing all
poles and their positions so the first job was to lay all poles on the ground in
the positions where they would fit into the scheme of things. Next job was
to feed the awning onto the channel on the caravan, this is a two person job, as
with pretty much all awnings, but a single caravanner could do this with a
little more effort. The awning is one complete piece so, although
lightweight, did feel heavy when trying to pull it round the channel.
Once we had fed it onto the van we attached the framework, the awning has
hanging cords for the end of the poles to sit in and then rubber suckers on the
end so that they go against the caravan and avoid scratching the side panels,
this also eliminates the need for extra fastners to be fitted to van.
The framework was simple and easy to erect and adjusting the poles to the
right length was an easy job resulting in a completed awning standing against
the van in about 20 minutes. We then had to peg out the awning which took no
time.
